Saluting Service Year‑Round

Watch our Veterans highlight video and learn more about the success of the 13th annual Highly Decorated tree lighting ceremony in support of those who serve.

WAS Veterans

On Saturday, December 13, Wasatch Adaptive Sports hosted our best-attended Highly Decorated event yet at Snowbird.

Together, we surpassed our fundraising goal and raised nearly $180,000 in support of WAS veteran programs, making this our most successful Highly Decorated to date. Veterans, active servicemembers, and their families came together to celebrate the season, honor service, and share an unforgettable day on the mountain.

A sincere thank you to our generous sponsors whose support made this event possible, and to our community partners who volunteered their time and energy to create such a meaningful experience. Most importantly, thank you to the veterans and families who continue to inspire everything we do. We are deeply grateful for this community and the impact we are able to create together.

Learn more about WAS Veterans programs

We provide outdoor recreational and social activities for veterans coping with military-related physical, cognitive, and emotional difficulties. Our goal is to get veterans out of the home and participating in activities that promote camaraderie, self-esteem, and a connection to the outdoors. All WAS Veterans Programs are available 100% on scholarship thanks to the generous support of our donors.

“I served from 1982 to 1992. I’ve accumulated quite a few disabilities, but I still wanted to get out in the world and be active. I came across through PT at the VA, Wasatch Adaptive Sports. Not too many people have gone through the time or expense to look at us veterans and say, hey, we are deserving of having something that is custom to our disability. Support Wasatch Adaptive Sports. Make a difference.”

“[I served] in Air Force Pararescue for 25 years. I had a lot of experience most women do not challenge their bodies to do and now I am reaping the repercussions. A lot of times, when you’re damaged, you feel very recluse, you become isolated, and you suck into depression. [Wasatch Adaptive Sports] saves our lives. It really does.”

“I have spent the last couple of years recovering from a t-bone crash that took my legs. I had never considered a recumbent bike but now I am getting out riding even single track mountain  biking which I never thought I would do again! WAS has opened several doors since then! Their people are GREAT and the world is now full of possibilities, not roadblocks. Thank you WAS!…”
