Best Skiers on the Mountain: Inside the First-Ever SitBird Advanced Monoski Camp with Wasatch Adaptive Sports

With testimonials from SitBird 2024 participants

In April 2024, Wasatch Adaptive Sports put on the first-ever SitBird Advanced Monoski Camp at Snowbird! The event featured 10 participants from all over the country, including skiers from right here in the Wasatch. Attendees pushed themselves to new challenges and new terrain all over the mountain, sharing sunshine, smiles, stoke and community throughout the week. SitBird was envisioned as an opportunity for highly skilled monoskiers to progress their skills to the next level while learning from their peers and expert sit ski instructors, and it certainly lived up to its mission. The atmosphere of encouragement and stoke was infectious, and their was no doubt that the SitBird crew were the best skiers on the mountain throughout their visit to the ‘Bird. As of the writing of this blog, Snowbird’s highlight of the camp has more than 130,000 plays on social media (!!!) – it’s safe to say SitBird riders caught the attention of everyone during their time in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

The camp was generously supported by the Craig H. Nielsen Foundation as well as KÜHL Clothing and its founder, who help WAS to empower 800+ athletes with disabilities to get active along the Wasatch Front each year. Thank you to all who support WAS students year-round!

WAS aspires to make this event an annual tradition at Snowbird. If you’re interested in supporting the camp or registering as a participant in 2025, reach out to don@wasatchadaptivesports.org for more information!
