Noelle Lawson: WAS’s Youngest Donor

Noelle Lawson and her family are longtime supporters of Wasatch Adaptive Sports.  Instead of getting gifts for her birthday, Noelle selflessly asks her friends to donate to WAS.  Below, WAS’s youngest donor shares more about herself and how she got involved with WAS.

1. Tell us about yourself.

My name is Noelle Lawson. I am 10 years old and I live in Hillsborough, California. I am the youngest of 3 siblings and we share a lot of things in common. I always have a lot of energy and I love to entertain my family with singing, dancing, and many more. I love helping people and learning lots of magic to perform in front of my family and friends. I have a little Cavalier King Charles that is my best friend and we always play and spend time together, and she always sleeps on my head and snores in my ear when I go to bed.

2. What is your favorite color?

My favorite color is light blue and dark blue.

3. What is your favorite season?

My favorite season is summer because I get to travel with my family. I love traveling with my family because I get to see new places, experience different foods and try new things.  I also love summer because I go to sleep away camp for 1 week. Why I love going to sleep away camp is to make new friends and to do new activities like archery, knee boarding, water skiing, and more. What I also love to see in the summer is my dog Bree’s very cute short haircut.

4. What is your favorite sport or physical activity?

My favorite sport is soccer because I love the feeling of the wind blowing in my face while I am sprinting to the ball trying to score a goal. I also love to run and soccer has a lot of running in it because you have to run across the field multiple times on offense or defense. Soccer has always inspired me to play more sports like lacrosse and basketball at the moment. I also love after the games if you win or lose you will have the support from your coach and teammates every single game.

5. How did you get involved with Wasatch Adaptive Sports?

Noelle and her mom Holly at the Steve Young Ski Classic in 2015

How I got involved with Wasatch Adaptive Sports was watching Amy Purdy and Derek Hough on Dancing with the Stars. When I was watching how incredible Amy Purdy could dance so well with her prosthetic leg it inspired me to donate to the Wasatch Adaptive Sports. I also grew up going to the Steve Young Wasatch Adaptive Sports Ski Classic.

6. What do you like most about Wasatch Adaptive Sports?

What I like most about Wasatch Adaptive Sports is that I love how the program is able to help individuals with adaptive needs and their families to enjoy the outdoors, like skiing, snowboarding, fishing and many more. I also love how Wasatch helps adaptive athlete’s live lives that they would never think they would be able to do. It makes me super happy to see the joy in their eyes while they are doing activities and having the time of their lives.

7. Why do you donate your birthday to Wasatch Adaptive Sports?

Why I donate my birthday money to Wasatch Adaptive Sports is because it helps children, adults, and veterans.  I feel very fortunate with everything I have and I don’t need more things for my birthday, and I love giving money to Wasatch Adaptive Sports instead of getting gifts for my birthday.  I also love to donate my birthday money because I know that the money I raised is going to a very good cause which is helping people and Wasatch Adaptive Sports. Thank You Wasatch Adaptive Sports for everything you have done!
