Winter Programs

Skiing / Snowboarding

The ski and snowboard program offers instruction specific to the student and their goals on the mountain. Adaptive equipment includes the bi-ski, snow slider, Kart Ski, monoski, ski bike, and outriggers that maximize success and learning. All instructors are PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) or AASI (American Association of Snowboard Instructors) certified. WAS provides lessons at Snowbird 7 days a week that include a lift ticket, instruction, and rentals or adaptive equipment. Lessons at other Utah resorts including Alta, Sundance, Solitude, Brighton, and Deer Valley can be requested and will be provided based on availability.

Snowshoeing

A great way to experience the mountains in the winter, snowshoeing is a favorite for groups and families to enjoy together. Snowshoes attach to hiking or snow boots, allowing the student to walk on either groomed trails or off-trail in the powder Utah is known for. WAS partners with the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation to provide Snowshoe Naturalist Guided Tours at Alta Ski Resort and other areas around the Wasatch Front. Snowshoe tours will be provided on alternating Tuesdays and Saturdays starting in December.

Indoor Cycling

Rent a stationary bike set-up from WAS and join us virtually for a weekly cycling class starting in November! Indoor cycling classes provide students with the opportunity to stay healthy during the winter and keep up with their fitness goals.

Adaptive Yoga

Our yoga program emphasizes the experience of the pose rather than achieving it. Core principles include grounding, expansion, balance and rhythm through the use of various props. This winter, join WAS for a virtual yoga practice led by professional yoga instructors. Rent a yoga mat, blocks, and straps from WAS to be ready to go come December when programs begin!

Full and partial scholarships are available. Advanced reservations are required for all winter activities and are based on availability.  A thorough assessment of the student is done prior to the first lesson to determine the student’s abilities and adaptive needs.
