Why I Pedal: How Early Memories Sparked a Lifelong Passion for Biking with Tucker Lawrence

For WAS Development Coordinator Tucker Lawrence, cycling is deeply rooted in family and exploration. One of his absolute favorite memories is watching his younger sister ride a bike for the very first time.

After weeks of struggling to keep her balance on the concrete driveway, she decided to give it a shot in the backyard. For whatever reason, the grass gave her just the right traction and confidence she needed to balance. The look of pure accomplishment on her face when she finally took off was priceless and she rode that orange BMX bike every single day for years after.

Today, Tucker’s love for riding continues to grow. Reflecting on what the sport means to him now, he shares: “I pedal because of the amazing places it takes me. It allows me to see parts of Utah that I never would have otherwise. Cycling has given me an opportunity to enjoy exercising in the summer.” – Tucker, WAS Development Coordinator
