Spring, Summer, & Fall Programs

Cycling

A variety of two-wheeled bicycles, three-wheeled recumbents, adaptive children’s bikes, and handcycles comprise the fleet of bikes that make this program a great option for children and adults of varying abilities. Group rides and private sessions with our paid instructors take place throughout the week on the paved trails in Salt Lake City, Murray, American Fork, and Provo.

Mountain Biking

Our mountain bike program includes individual lessons and group rides which emphasize safety and technique while promoting independence and confidence. The growing mileage of trails accessible for adaptive mountain bikes along the Wasatch Front makes this area perfect for our growing program. Rides will take place at various trailheads, including WAS-adopted Little Valley Trailhead in Draper.

Paddle Boarding and Kayaking

Located at Tibble Fork Reservoir, the paddle board and kayak program focuses on success found in either the sitting, kneeling or standing position. Paddling provides aerobic exercise, in addition to physical strength and mental well-being in a beautiful setting.

Hiking

Students enjoy the Wasatch National Forest by hiking various trails throughout Salt Lake and Utah Counties, including the Barrier-Free Trail at Snowbird. This paved, wheel-chair accessible path meanders .5 miles amongst old spruce and fir trees to the observation deck overlooking Little Cottonwood Canyon. The network of dirt trails throughout the Wasatch Front provides ample opportunity for WAS students to get out and explore!

Adaptive Yoga

Our yoga program emphasizes the experience of the pose rather than achieving it. Core principles include grounding, expansion, balance and rhythm through use of various props.

Scholarships are available for those who qualify. Advanced reservations are required for all activities and are based on availability.

An assessment of the student is done prior to the first lesson or activity to determine the student’s needs.
