Winter Programs

Skiing / Snowboarding

A partnership between Wasatch Adaptive Sports, Snowbird Resort and Sundance Mountain Resort, the ski and snowboard program aims to progress students to a level of skiing and riding independently with family or friends. Adaptive equipment includes the bi-ski, snow slider, Kart Ski, monoski, and outriggers that maximize success and learning. All instructors are PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) or AASI (American Association of Snowboard Instructors) certified.

Nordic Skiing

Both types of Nordic skiing, classic and skate, provide low-impact access to relatively flat terrain while getting the body moving during the winter months. In classic skiing, the skis move parallel to each other through tracks in the snow. In skate skiing, skiers propel themselves off the edge of the ski along a groomed portion of snow. Adaptive equipment, such as a snow slider, is an option to assist both balance and mobility.

Snowshoeing

A great way to experience the mountains in the winter, snowshoeing is a favorite for groups and families to enjoy together. Snowshoes attach to hiking or snow boots, allowing the participant to walk on either groomed trails or off-trail in the powder Utah is known for.

Indoor Cycling

A partnership with the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation, students have the opportunity to maintain their endurance, strength and fitness throughout the winter months at the Utah Olympic Oval.

Bowling

A bi-monthly favorite for children, adults and their families, the bowling program encourages community, camaraderie, strength and overall fun. Equipment such as bowling ramps and handles make this sport accessible to individuals of all abilities.

Adaptive Yoga

Our yoga program emphasizes the experience of the pose rather than achieving it. Core principles include grounding, expansion, balance and rhythm through use of various props.

Full and partial scholarships are available. Advanced reservations are required for all winter activities and are based on availability.  A thorough assessment of the student is done prior to the first lesson to determine the student’s abilities and adaptive needs.
