Wasatch Adaptive Sports has lots of opportunities for Veterans!
Some of the programs offered to Veterans include: adaptive, alpine and Nordic skiing, camping retreats, snowboarding, snowshoeing, fishing, hiking, and so much more. Programs are offered year-round. Check out the photos of some of the recent activities.
The mission of the Wasatch Adaptive Sports Veterans Program is to offer outdoor therapeutic recreational and social activities for Veterans coping with military related physical, cognitive, and emotional difficulties. Our goal is to promote healing, health and well-being while restoring our Veterans’ sense of connection with the outdoors. This allows them to recapture a range of emotions and to encounter safe, meaningful challenges in natural settings that promote trust with others.
Highly Decorated Event
We are excited for the second Highly Decorated event honoring our active military, veterans, and their families. Located on the Plaza Deck, our HIGHLY DECORATED trees will be lit in a tree lighting ceremony on December 20, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. and will remain lit throughout the 2014-15 season as a beacon of hope for everyone and as a symbol of our freedom. All proceeds go to Wasatch Adaptive Sports Veterans Program.
Wasatch Adaptive Sports is excited to partner with the George E. Wahlen Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center and Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort to offer a series of winter retreat days that will offer snowshoeing, skiing and snowboarding.
2014-2015 Winter Retreat Dates to be announced.
